Wang Ju-Yi and Jason Robertson:

An Exploration of Channel Theory and Palpatory Diagnosis

Overview
This three-day seminar will explore in depth the core concepts of classical acupuncture theory. Students will learn how to go beyond a mere collection of 'experience points' to treat individual diseases through the study and application of channel theory. Drawing from the core Inner Classic (.. Neijing) and Classic of Difficulties (.. Nanjing) texts, channel theory represents what we now term 'physiology'. A more sophisticated understanding of classical physiology allows practitioners to practice acupuncture as a living system. As a result, treatment protocols can be developed which truly take into account the complex presentations of modern patients.

Topics to be covered
  • Six level theory and its role in acupuncture
  • A re-evaluation of organ (zang-fu) theory in the context of channel theory
  • A discussion of the important role of channel palpation in diagnosis
  • Hands-on practice and demonstration of palpatory technique
